We have no idea about you, but we, for instance, have had many troubles talking to our families. It doesn’t matter how close we are, how much we care about each other, or how much time we spend together.

Think about it like this: you are going on a family vacation, and you have a lot of time for discussions. This is a great opportunity to get closer to your children, your spouse, and even your other relatives.

Regardless of the destination, you’re going to, or even if you are enjoying a nice dinner together, you can go back to these topics, when you feel like inspiration is not your forte.

If you feel like every once in a while you have no idea what to talk about with your favorite people, or don’t know how to start a deep conversation, this article is for you!

Before we dive into the subject, you must remember four important things if you want to connect with your favorite people:

  1. You have to ask good questions, that will make people excited to answer, that will determine them to be open with you. TIP: Avoid questions that can have “yes” and “no” as answers. These won’t make people engaged, so they are pointless in a situation like this!
  2. Stick to listening, not lecturing! People love to talk about themselves and about the things that make them happy, so if you truly listen to what they have to say, they will more likely keep sharing information and details about several topics they enjoy.
  3. Stay curious! Like we’ve previously established, people like to talk about themselves. If you want to bond with your close ones, make sure to enjoy the conversation, ask further questions! In addition to that, you should give off the impression that you care about what they say, and you like the time you spend together. They will be convinced that you are sincere, and they will want to keep the discussion going.
  4. P.S. You shouldn’t be afraid to share your opinions, but before you do that, make sure you have listened and understood others’ points of view!

Now that we have discussed the main rules, it’s time to give you some questions and topics as examples!
