Information we collect

Information collected automatically

When you read a page on this site, our servers and the services we use record technical information. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, and the site you arrived from. This information is standard for any website and is used to keep the site running, secure, and reasonably fast.

Information you give us

You only give us personal information if you choose to. That happens when you:

  • subscribe to our newsletter — we collect your email address;
  • send us a message through our contact form — we collect your name, email address, subject, and the content of your message;
  • leave a comment on an article — we collect the name and email address you enter, and the comment is published on the site;
  • ask the reading assistant a question — we receive the question you type.

Our articles are about relationships, marriage and family life, and some of the questions people bring to them are personal. Please do not include sensitive details, such as health information or anything that identifies another person, in comments, messages or assistant questions. We do not need them to help you.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. This site uses them to measure how the site is used and to support advertising.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and delete them at any time. Blocking cookies will not stop you reading the site, though some features may not work as expected.

Advertising

This site is free to read and is funded by advertising. We work with Google AdSense and other advertising partners to display ads on our pages.

Google and our other partners may use cookies and device identifiers to show you ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. They may collect information such as your IP address, device type, general location, and inferred interests, and may combine it across the devices you use.

You have direct control over this:

Opting out does not remove advertising from the site. It means the ads you see are less closely matched to your interests.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand which articles are read, how visitors arrive, and where pages are not working well. This tells us, for example, that an article was read a thousand times last month — not who read it. We do not use analytics to identify individual readers.

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we use your email address to send our newsletter and nothing else. We do not sell or rent our mailing list. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You can also unsubscribe at any time at unsubscribe.loveandkinship.com.

The reading assistant

Article pages offer an optional assistant that can summarise the article, answer questions about it and suggest related reading. It only runs when you open it and type a question. Your question and the article you are reading are sent to the service that powers the assistant, which uses an AI model to write the answer. Answers can contain mistakes and are not professional advice. Please do not type personal or sensitive information into it.

Fonts and other page resources

Some parts of the page load resources such as fonts from Google’s servers. To deliver them, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information.

How we use your information

We use the information described above to publish and improve our articles, respond to your messages, publish your comments, send the newsletter you asked for, answer the questions you ask the assistant, display advertising that funds the site, and keep the site secure. We do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with the service providers that make the site work — our hosting provider, our analytics and advertising partners, our email provider, and the provider behind the reading assistant — and only so far as they need it to perform their service.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Your privacy rights

If you live in California

California law gives you the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request that it be deleted, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for targeted advertising.

Sharing data with advertising partners for personalised advertising may count as “sharing” under California law. You can opt out on our Do Not Sell My Personal Information page. You can also read our California privacy policy, or make a request to know or a request to delete.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority; in Romania, that is the ANSPDCP.

How to exercise your rights

Email us at info@ineditagency.com or use our contact form. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the period required by the law that applies to you.

Children’s privacy

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep information

We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe. We keep contact form messages for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and to keep a record of it. Published comments stay on the site until you ask us to remove them. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the policies of the providers named above.

International transfers

We are based in Romania and many of our service providers are based in the United States. Your information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live, under safeguards appropriate to that transfer.

Our articles link to other organisations, such as the American Psychological Association, the Gottman Institute and the National Institutes of Health. Once you follow a link, you are on their website and their privacy policy applies, not ours.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
