1. They overshare on social media

Does your partner constantly post pictures, quotes, or even videos about your life as a couple? Did they ask you to post on social media that you’re in a relationship a little too soon? Do they want to be tagged in every single post of yours?

Some people take it even further and start asking questions about the people you were in pictures with, even though you and your partner didn’t even know each other at the time. Some relationship experts say that these are warning signs regarding a clingy attitude and the trick here is to talk to them and set some boundaries that will help both of you understand each other.

2. They don’t have any particular interests or friends

When they meet someone they’re really attracted to, clingy partners don’t care about their personal lives anymore. All they want to do is spend time with their significant others, even though they might not have a lot of things in common.

If you notice that your partner decided to let go of their favorite things just so they can spend more time with you, it might be sweet at first, but if they only want to stay with you or your friends and it seems that they don’t have a personal life anymore, that’s a red flag. Boundaries and conversations are important, so don’t neglect them!

3. They blow up your phone

According to several dating and relationship experts, jealousy and clinginess can actually go hand in hand. People who are insecure and jealous will tend to cling to their partners as a way to control them and always know what they’re doing.

Whether it’s coming from a place of insecurity or jealousy, receiving a ton of texts and calls every single day is surely not a healthy way to be part of a relationship.

A thing you can do is to openly talk about how you see the relationship and what your expectations from one another are. If your thoughts don’t align, you will have to put in a bit of work or decide to break up.

4. They hate it when you go out without them

Let’s be honest: as much as you like your partner and you enjoy their company, there might be times when you simply want to live your life outside of the relationship and have a nice time out with your friends and family.

But if they have a weird attitude when you tell them that your plans don’t include them, that’s a sign you should pay attention to. You might find this escapade as a chance to blow off some steam and catch up with your loved ones. But they might see it as a night spent home alone when they have all the time in the world to worry about all the things that could go wrong.

Be honest and talk to them about this. Assure them that nothing bad is going to happen and explain to them that you need to spend some time outside of the relationship as well.
