…How many times have you wondered if it’s time to let your partner go and focus on yourself?

Generally, we can say that relationships are beautiful, but not all of them are meant to last. A toxic relationship will not only make your life feel miserable but those constant arguments and fights can also lead to major depression and confidence issues.

Being the only one who puts their whole heart and soul into the relationship can be very time-consuming and draining, especially if you have no idea if the whole thing between you two is actually worth saving.

If you feel like your relationship is only going downhill, the best thing you can do is to think about your priorities and decide if it’s time to move on or try again. Here are 7 signs you should give up on your partner.

1. You’ve changed a lot

Everything can be improved: from items, and people, to even relationships. There’s nothing wrong with pushing your partner toward a change that both of you will benefit from, but asking someone to completely change their attitude and personality is not okay.

When you are in love with someone, you accept them as they are, with all their flaws and qualities. Waiting around for someone to change their habits, interests, and hobbies won’t make you happier.

If you were more joyful when you were single than you are with your actual partner this is a clear warning sign you should take into consideration.

2. You don’t feel flutters when you think about your partner

Of course, as your relationship becomes more and more serious, you might get over the “honeymoon phase”, which means that the initial emotion and feelings fade.

But that doesn’t mean that you don’t love your partner anymore or that the spark between you two is no longer there. However, if thinking about your partner doesn’t put a smile on your face or make you happy, but it’s actually giving you anxiety and it’s making you angry or upset, it might be the right time to let them go.

3. You both avoid spending time together

If you and your partner always come up with excuses to not spend time together, but you’re willing to get along with other people, it’s a sign that you don’t belong together.

We shouldn’t take time for granted, because it’s not something we endlessly receive. If you want to spend time with someone you truly care about, you can make it. There’s no other way around it.

4. You’re not close anymore

Many people believe that communication is the key ingredient when it comes to a happy and healthy relationship. I believe that communication is important only if the partners are willing to listen and improve themselves.

For instance, if you tell your partner that you don’t like it when they come home late every night and they still do it, communication is not the key here. We can say that the main thing people have to do in a relationship is to pay attention to the way they communicate, respect, and treat each other.

If you have a hard time sharing your thoughts and secrets with your partner or if you feel more comfortable talking to someone else, it’s a red flag that something is wrong.

5. All conversations turn into fights

Fights are normal in any serious relationship and they sometimes can make partners realize the things they did wrong to one another and it gives them the opportunity to make amends.

However, if you end up fighting every time you want to discuss something with each other, that’s not a good sign. Arguing from time to time won’t hurt you, but doing so too often will leave both of you sad, tired, and even depressed.

6. Your partner “receives”, but doesn’t “give” anything back

A relationship takes a lot of time and effort from both of you in order to function the way it’s supposed to. Unfortunately, if you notice that all you do is take care of your partner and you receive nothing in return, it means that your significant other is not putting any effort in. If that is your case, you should let them go and find yourself someone who actually cares and appreciates you.

7. Everything is plain and boring

Not that you should have a love life that looks like it’s straight out of the movies, but it doesn’t have to be boring either. From going for a walk together to going on date nights from time to time, or simply cooking and watching a film together, there are plenty of things couples can do to bring them closer to each other.

All you need is the willingness to make an effort to keep things running smoothly, and they’re fun and exciting. If your relationship feels more like a chore, rather than something beautiful, it might be time to say goodbye to your partner.
