7 Things You Should NEVER Add To Your Dating Profile
Love is one of the most valuable things in life. It can make you happy, sad, angry, frustrated, energetic, compassionate and the list can go on and on. There are many kinds of love. For example self-love, family love, friendly love or romantic love. We need almost all of these to make our existence more fulfilled. I say almost because I don’t think you need a partner to be happy.
Also, having someone you can count on can make you feel good and appreciated. There isn’t a best place or a time when you can find someone that’s suitable for you. You can meet someone in the park, in your neighborhood, in a supermarket, or even when you pick up your kids from school. Sometimes relationships that started when you were a teenager, or young adult don’t work and you find yourself looking for somebody else when you’re a little more mature.
You can also spend a little time surfing the Internet and enjoy the advantages that technology gives us. You can choose from a bunch of dating apps online and who knows, maybe find your soulmate.
With that being said, you need to know that there are no strict rules when it comes to online dating, but there are some guidelines you should respect.
Shall we begin?
1. Use your real photos
Nobody likes being lied to, am I right?
When you create a profile on a dating app, just use your own photographs. You don’t need anything professional, just yourself, not a picture of a cat or a flower. Think about it just like this: the other person WANTS to see you.
Also, make sure you’re only using pictures of yourself, not group photos or pictures where you wear sunglasses and you’re hiding your face. The reason being that when it comes to dating apps, people tend to have an opinion just by looking at your profile. So, remember: keep it real and simple.
2. Don’t lie and don’t over complicate
You know the moment when somebody says that they like something and you try to keep a conversation about that subject, but suddenly the person doesn’t know what to say anymore? I’m pretty sure that it happened to you at least once. That’s unattractive and it can make people look foolish.
For example, if you write on your profile that you love to swim, you may be asked to go on a swimming date. In reality, it turns out that you are scared of swimming and your partner will be disappointed. Write the truth about yourself and give your partner the chance to know the real and the raw version of you.
3. Don’t post group pictures
You’ll confuse your future partner. Which one are you? How tall are they? When were these taken?
You can make other app users more interested in one of your friends, since they don’t know which one you are. They are more likely to skip the unknown information and pass on your profile.
4. Quotes or riddles
No one’s got time to try and decode your thoughts. Also, these famous quotes taken from books, celebrities, films or magazines can seem like clichés. Use something understandable and about your own likes and dislikes, not words from some famous author.
5.Instructions about what you’re looking for
“Looking for a 50 year-old red-head female that likes to cook and would love to play with my grandchildren”. No, no, no. Nobody likes that, so don’t use it! Otherwise you’ll give the perception that you are arrogant, narrow-minded and superficial.
6.Telling possible future partners to make the first move
“Swipe right, say ‘hello’ and maybe let’s meet” – not intriguing. Why would somebody want to contact a person just because someone said so? Yeah, nobody. They will reach out if they want to, not because you were trying to be persuasive.
7. Keeping your bio blank
A little mystery never hurt anybody, but you don’t want to go to an extreme and not add ANY information on your bio. You can risk being perceived as a lazy person or can even make the app you’re using think that you have a fake profile.
At the end of the day, dating should be fun and enjoyable, it shouldn’t feel like something that you are compelled to do. Just be mindful about what pictures you post and what you write in your bio and good luck! SOMEONE is waiting for you!
